Cities play an important role in economic development and civic and career learning paths of adults. UNESCO defines a learning city as a city that: effectively mobilises its resources in every sector to promote inclusive learning from basic to higher education; revitalises learning in families and communities; facilitates learning for and in the workplace; extends the use of modern learning technologies; enhances quality and excellence in learning; and fosters a culture of learning throughout life.
Drobeta Turnu Severin has since 2021 also a City based Learning Platform that can offer and support learning opportunities within the city. Which is free to use for everybody within the city. In Cities of Learning, we offer new 21st-century skills education opportunities and use digital Open Badges to recognise learning, skills and achievements. Developing badge-based recognition systems require the involvement of policy and youth- and adult education stakeholders.
During this meeting with the municipality of Drobeta Turnu Severin participants will have the opportunity to:
- Discover the municipality projects that support the entrepreneurial competences of the adults in the town of Drobeta Turnu Severin (start-up programs, SES entreprises- Social Entrepreneurial Structures)
- Introduce the project and the City of learning platform
- Discuss of how the platform can support the host in keeping up with the support given to entrepreneurs (egg., support in finding opportunities/funding for upcoming projects etc)
This activity is part of the Study Visit on adult learning pathways to entrepreneurial skills, within the project Digital technology for pathways to entrepreneurial skills and takes place in Drobeta Turnu Severin from 20-24 June 2022.
